Fayetteville Man Accused Of Stabbing Father To Death

Posted Updated

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office arrested 35-year-old David Graham and charged him with first-degree murder after his father was fatally stabbed Sunday.

Deputies said they received a call at 4:35 a.m. Sunday from 76-year-old Hubert Graham, who said that his son had assaulted him. When deputies arrived at the elder Graham's residence, they found him dead in a chair in the living room.

It appeared that Hubert Graham had died from a stab wound to chest. An autopsy will be conducted Monday at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Chapel Hill to determine the exact cause of death.

The motive for the stabbing has not yet been established.

David Graham was at the residence when deputies arrived. He was taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder.

He was being held Sunday in the Cumberland County Detention Facility without bond. He is scheduled to make a first appearance in District Court at 9 a.m. Monday.
