Water Restored To Durham Residents

As a result of Sunday's severe weather, Brown water treatment plant lost its main power and later lost back-up power.

The Williams water treatment plant was able to handle the increased load until 1 p.m. Monday when it lost its main power.

The water treatment plants are bringing the water back on to residents slowly to prevent pipes from bursting due to water pressures.

Environmental officials will conduct additional water quality sampling throughout the distribution system to ensure that water quality has not been compromised.

City water customers may notice minor discoloration in the water flowing from their taps. If this occurs, customers should run their water for a few minutes until it runs clear. Customers should also check the water before washing any white clothing.
