Cary Teen Charged In Connection With Deputy's Murder Out Of Jail

Posted Updated

WAKE COUNTY, N.C. — A Cary teenager charged in connection with the death of a Wake County deputy is free on bail.

A judge lowered Lawson Rankin's bail Wednesday from $1 million to $100,000.

Rankin is charged with being an accessory to murder after the fact. Investigators say he and Justin Franke helped murder suspect Matthew Grant come up with an alibi and hide the gun.

Deputy Mark Tucker was shot to death in February in a field on Holly Springs Road.

Frank and Grant are still behind bars.
