String Of Violent Home Invasions Spans Several Counties

Posted Updated

SAMPSON COUNTY, N.C. — Investigators are worried about a string of violent home invasions that span nine counties including Wake.

In Sampson County there have been six break-ins since November. In almost every case, the attackers tied up their victims.

"All of them are armed and that worries us that someone is going to get hurt," said Capt. Ricky Mattocks of the Sampson County Sheriff's Office. "They're taking money, jewelry, and in some cases, there have been kids in these robberies."

In Johnston County, seven home invasions have occured since November.

Similar break-ins were also reported in Bladen, Duplin, Harnett, Pender, Wake, Wayne and Wilson counties.

Authorities believe the suspects are all Honduran immigrants and are targeting Hispanic business owners.
