Charges Expected In Connection With Basketball Camp Hazing Incident

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — A prosecutor said he expects to file criminal charges against several Avery County High athletes allegedly involved in a hazing incident at a basketball camp.

Victims said they were sexually assaulted at the camp at N.C. State over the summer.

Wake County Assistant District Attorney Howard Cummings said his office and Raleigh police have completed an investigation. The probe began after parents of alleged victims complained to authorities following the basketball camp.

Cummings said charges should be filed in the next two weeks against six or seven students.
