Authorities said deputy William Franklin James II, 33, died Friday night after he lost control of his cruiser on a road near Garner while responding to a call.
The visitation will be Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at the Apex Funeral Home. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Apex Baptist Church.

James was responding to a 911 call Friday in which two women were having an argument at their home. The dispatcher apparently gave the deputy permission to turn on his blue lights and sirens.
James was a Navy veteran who served in the Persian Gulf War. He left the military for police work in 1996. Authorities were investigating to try to determine what caused him to lose controlof the car.
Jessica Lynn Anderson, 17, who was driving the car that collided with James' cruiser, is listed in fair condition at WakeMed.
