One Store Keeping Durham Mall Open

Posted Updated

DURHAM, N.C. — It has been a big retail year in the Triangle, despite the slumping economy and layoffs.

In March, the Streets at Southpoint opened in Durham. In August, Triangle Town Center opened off Capital Boulevard in Raleigh.

Each mall had over 500,000 shoppers on the first weekend of business. However, with their success comes trouble for other malls.

Radio Shack is the only thing keeping the padlocks off Durham's South Square Mall.

The electronics store remains open in the mall, a day after three other stores in the mall closed their doors for good.
