HOPE MILLS, N.C. — Cumberland County sheriff's detectives on Tuesday arrested Marcus Alan Bergman, 18, of Hope Mills, on seven counts of making a false bomb report of a public building.
The charges stem from seven bomb threats made to Cumberland County area schools Monday and Tuesday. Officials have estimated that the cost to taxpayers for each bomb threat made to a public school is approximately $10,000.
Bergman is accused of wording each threat in the same manner. Detectives believe he made two threats Monday and five threats Tuesday.
