ANGIER, N.C. — A Harnett County woman has been charged with child abuse and neglect because her 4-year-old son wandered away from home earlier this month.
Tyree Smith left his home in Angier in the middle of the night on Oct. 1 and was found by a passer-by on a nearby street corner, authorities said.
The boy's mother, Amanda Smith, of 285 N. Willow St., was at a party next door that night, thinking her son was asleep, authorities said. The boy's father was at work at the time.
The boy was missing for several hours before he was reunited with his parents.
Smith's court date is in December.
