19-Year-Old Charged In Fatal Lee County Wreck

LEE COUNTY, N.C. — A 19-year-old has been charged in a deadly wreck near the Lee-Moore County line Wednesday night.

The wreck happened on U.S. 1 and Cedar Lane Road around 10 p.m.

The Highway Patrol said the driver of a pickup truck, Charles Thomas Britt Jr., ran a stop sign, hitting a car driven by Heather Marie Cash.

Two passengers in the pickup truck, Melody Terrell, 24, of Cameron, and her 2-year-old son, Sean, were killed. A third passenger, Michelle Blue, was airlifted to UNC Hospitals,where she was treated and released.

Cash and Britt were transported to Central Carolina Hospital with serious injuries.Cash was treated and released.

Britt was charged with DWI and possession of marijuana. Charges related to the deaths are pending.

Investigators said none of the four people in the pickup truck were wearing seatbelts.
