Theft Victim Receives Check After Grinch Steals Money Needed For Transplant

Posted Updated

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Local radio listeners helped fill a need left by a dishonest person.

A Chapel Hill radio station presented Kerri Waller with a check Friday for more than $7,500.

Waller lost her purse that had $5,000 inside in December at a Wendy's restaurant in UNC Hospitals. The money was supposed to help with her husband's double lung transplant.

Dozens of listeners pitched in after hearing her story.
