Durham police are investigating a homicide that occurred late Monday afternoon on North Street.

Durham police are investigating a homicide that occurred late Monday afternoon on North Street.

The victim, Marlon Rand, 23, of 1004 North St., was at his car at about 4:40 p.m. when a man approached him and started shooting, police said.

Rand tried to flee, but collapsed. He was shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt was seen running toward Trinity Avenue just after the shooting occurred, investigators said.

Police have not filed any charges and have not determined a motive for the shooting.
