Durham Deputy Injured In Traffic Accident

Posted Updated

DURHAM, N.C. — A Durham sheriff's deputy was involved in a two-car accident early Wednesday.

According to the Durham Sheriff's Office, Deputy Jason Gainey was responding to a disturbance with possible weapon call at the time when his patrol car slid into another car at the intersection of Gibson and Lynn Road.

Both Gainey and the driver of the other vehicle were transported to Duke Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries. Gainey was later treated and released.

Authorities are trying to determine whether the wet roads contributed to the accident.
