Police Officer Shoots Lillington Robbery Suspect

LILLINGTON, N.C. — Police in Lillington are investigating a Saturday night robbery that ended with an officer shooting a suspect.

Lillington police said Ashley Brandon Dryer was one of three men who robbed the Pizza Hut restaurant on Main Street.

Police said Dryer pulled a weapon as an officer tried to stop the men. That is when police said the officer shot him.

Dryer is being treated at Duke Medical Center and faces armed robbery, kidnapping and conspiracy to commit robbery charges.

Two other suspects were arrested and are being held on $500,000 bond.

Ahmad Rasheed Simmons is charged with armed robbery, kidnapping and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Thomas Lee Allen is charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery and armed robbery.
