Ferry Service Resumes To Ocracoke Island

RALEIGH, N.C. — The

N.C. Department of Transportation's (NCDOT) Ferry Division

will resume service to Ocracoke Island from Swan Quarter and Cedar Island for non-residents beginning at 7 a.m., Friday.

Ferries will operate along these routes on the following schedule:

  • Departures from Cedar Island: 10 a.m., Noon, 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
  • Departures from Ocracoke to Cedar Island: 7 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m. and 9 p.m.
  • Departures from Swan Quarter and Ocracoke (both sides): 7 a.m., 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.
  • Regular tolls will be charged with the exception of Ocracoke residents and people with Ocracoke driver licenses, trucks under contract with NCDOT or the Park Service and trucks carrying emergency equipment or personnel.

    Emergency equipment, heavy equipment and vehicles carrying perishable goods continue to have priority on all ferry departures. In addition, Ocracoke residents with proper ID will have priority on the first run out of Ocracoke in the morning and the last run out of Swan Quarter and Cedar Island in the evenings.

    Reservations should be made for all vehicles.
