RALEIGH, N.C. — The Raleigh Police Department has arrested 29-year-old Chad Anthony Cardon on 49 charges stemming from a series of break-ins and thefts in North Raleigh.

Cardon was arrested Thursday on charges that include residential breaking and entering and larceny, larceny of a motor vehicle, breaking and entering a motor vehicle, attempted larceny of a motor vehicle, resisting, delaying or obstructing a law enforcement officer, and probation violation.

Police said the crimes were committed over a very short time span, beginning on or about Sept. 2, 2003. They believe Cardon looked for unlocked vehicles, taking anything of value he could find and taking cars when he found keys in them.

Police Chief Jane Perlov said Friday that the investigation is continuing.
