Fayetteville Considers Growth Plan

Posted Updated

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — City leaders in Fayetteville are looking at a plan to annex 43,000 people in the western part of Cumberland County, stretching the city limits to the Hoke County line.

Monday night, council voted to formally look into the annexation proposal through a series of public hearings and meetings.

The first two meetings are scheduled for Sept. 28 and Oct. 8.

The tax value is estimated at nearly $ 2 billion.

Some county leaders oppose the idea.
