Authorities say a pickup truck driven by 34-year-old Perry Clifton Joyner of Angier and a tractor-trailer driven by 30-year-old Elbert Luke Milligan of Angier were involved in the head-on collision.
Both drivers were transported to WakeMed. Their injuries are not considered serious.
The collision happened shortly before 3 p.m. on Highway 42 West, a half-mile from Highway 50, and backed up traffic for miles.
According to investigators, Milligan's tractor-trailer was traveling west on Highway 42. Joyner's truck was traveling east on Highway 42 when he drove left of center and hit the tractor-trailer head-on.
Charges are pending against Joyner.
