Five people shot in Montgomery County
STAR, N.C. — Montgomery County authorities on Sunday identified three of the four people shot at a Star lumber yard on Friday.

Daniel Thomas Davis, 32, of Star, Jose Galdino Lopez Izquierdo, 25, of Asheboro, and a third person were killed when Ronald Dean Davis opened fire inside a warehouse at McBride Lumber Co.

Deputies later found Ronald Davis, 50, inside his home in the nearby Ether community with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. He died Saturday at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

Florentino Tellez Aparicio, 21, of Candor, was critically wounded in the shooting and was at UNC Hospitals on Sunday.

Sheriff Dempsey Owens said Friday that Davis targeted his victims when he entered the warehouse with a 12-gauge shotgun. Sixteen people were at the lumber yard at the time of the shooting.

Daniel Davis and Ronald Davis were cousins, authorities said Sunday, but it was unclear if Daniel Davis was the intended target.

Authorities found a six-page letter at Ronald Davis' house. The contents, which "rambled on," are under investigation, Owens said.

Donnie McBride, who owns the lumber company, said Davis had worked for him for about a decade.
