Investigators said Denise Harrison ran a real estate fraud operation out of a home in the Crooked Creek community Fuquay-Varina.
Thursday, authorities raided the home and confiscated computers, scanning equipment and materials used to make fraudalent checks.
Authorities said Harrison convinced people to give her their personal information and used it to arrange loans to pay for property. Authorities said Harrison then took the money for her own use.
"They did not realize that the entire loan was being done in their name [and] on their credit," said Al Sternberg, of the Wake County Sheriff's Office. "The first payment was never made and the property went into forclosure and the person's credit was left in ruin."
Authorities said the operation may have affected hundreds of victims statewide. They also said Harrison may have used two different names and lived in several different homes.
Neighbors told WRAL they saw a moving truck outside of the Fuquay-Varina home before Thursday's raid.
Harrison is being held on $1.4 million bond.
