Raleigh Is 'Hog Heaven' For Bike Fest Participants

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh's Fayetteville Street was all about two wheels this weekend, as motorcyclists poured into town for the Second Annual Capital City Bike Fest.

Bikes of all shapes, colors, and styles lined Fayetteville Street on Saturday. Organizers expected more than 50,000 bikers for the two-day event.

"I think this is what everybody was hoping it would be," said Bike Fest organizer Carl Schlatzer. "It's a lot of activity, lots of people having a good time, beautiful venue for this type of thing."

The Bike Fest festivities are scheduled to end at 11 p.m. Saturday. The street party is the first major event on Fayetteville Street since it reopened.
