Lenovo Launches Its First Desktop With Dual-Core AMD Processor

RALEIGH, N.C. — Lenovo

is rolling out its first personal computer with an AMD Athlon dual-core processor.

Lenovo, the world's third largest PC manufacturer which is building a new headquarters in Morrisville, is targeting small businesses with the Lenovo 3000 J115 model.

The PC can support up to four gigabytes of memory. A 19-inch LCD widescreen LCD monitor is optional.

"Small businesses are looking for a worry-free, reliable PC with no-fuss management at an affordable price," said Thomas Tobul, executive director of Global Desktop Marketing for Lenovo. "The Lenovo 3000 J115 desktop helps growing businesses use the latest technologies to stay ahead of the competition by offering them the most advanced software and hardware features to deliver a PC with outstanding performance on heavy multi-media tasks."

The PC is designed to run demanding multiple applications simultaneously with a processor that up to 80 percent more powerful than single-core models, according to Lenovo. The processor is the AM2 AMD Athlon 64-X2.

The PC also includes automated security and maintenance features plus one-button system recovery.

Prices start at $599.
