RALEIGH, N.C. — The Republican candidate running for North Carolina's District 49 House seat has withdrawn from the race.
In a written statement, Dave Harker said health issues forced him to drop out. He also said he hopes to run for the position again in the future.
Harker was running against Democrat Lucy T. Allen. District 49 covers Franklin County and parts of Halifax and Nash counties.
