Officials Ask For More Time To Consider Raleigh Convention Center Proposal
Posted — UpdatedRALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh and Wake County leaders are holding off on a vote for a new convention center -- for now.
Officials want more time to look at a proposal to build the new convention center near the existing one on the Fayetteville Street Mall.
The proposed $200 million project would be paid for using meal and hotel taxes already in place.
Some of the elected officials saw the proposed agreement for the first time at a meeting Monday and asked for at least another week to consider it.
The contract between the two governments would allow designers to begin specific plans for the building.
