"I just heard the car squeal, and the next thing I know, I saw the car coming just straight up," said Patricia Rowe, a store worker who witnessed the crash.
The accident happened at about 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday in the parking lot of the business, located on Wayne Memorial Drive in Goldsboro. The driver, Larose Caison, told police her foot slipped off the brake and that she pressed the accelerator. She was not injured in the accident and was charged with failure to reduce speed.
Emergency workers took Vickie Foster, one of the dry-cleaner's owners to Wayne Memorial Hospital, from which she was then flown to Pitt County Memorial Hospital. She was listed in good condition Thursday night. Family members said her injuries were not life-threatening.
Witnesses said the car slammed into a counter and pinned Foster up against the wall.
"She was screaming for the lady to back up, but the lady -- she wasn't doing anything," said Kerri Huerta, who had been standing a few feet from Foster.
Authorities estimate that the crash caused about $5,000 to $6,000 in damages.
