Bond Reduced For Parents Accused Of Neglect

Posted Updated

DURHAM, N.C. — A judge reduced the bond for two Durham parents accused of abuse and neglect after a fire two weeks ago.

Travis Mason and Saretha Singletary turned themselves into police on Thursday. Investigators said the couple left their four children home alone in an apartment with no electricity and a burning candle. The apartment caught fire and 3-year-old Zacheria Singletary suffered severe smoke inhalation.

On Friday, a judge reduced Mason's bond to $75,000 and Singletary's to $35,000. The children are now in foster care.
