Victim In Raleigh Hit-And-Run Was Involved In Earlier Road Rage Incident

RALEIGH, N.C. — Investigators have detained a 25-year-old woman in connection with a fatal hit-and-run that occurred overnight in Raleigh. Meawhile, WRAL has learned the victim in the accident was injured in a road rage incident in January 2005.

Authorities said shortly after 3 a.m. Thursday, 23-year-old Neil Anderson of Wake Forest was walking near the intersection of Capital Boulevard and Durant Road when he was struck by a car. Police said Anderson had been out celebrating his 23rd birthday.

Investigators were able to track down the woman's car at a nearby apartment complex. The name of the woman is being withheld, pending the filing of charges.

Anderson had been in the news before as a victim in a road rage incident in Raleigh. In January 2005, Anderson was shot in the face in a road rage incident on Interstate 40. Two men were convicted of the crime and Anderson faced a lengthy recovery.

Investigators had to shut down part of Capital Boulevard for several hours early Thursday morning to conduct their investigation, but it has since reopened.
