Cree Launches New Line Of LED Lighting Components

Posted Updated

DURHAM, N.C. — Cree

is introducing a new line of light-emitting diode lighting components that it says provide twice the brightness of current power chips.

The EZBright 1000 product is designed for use in general lighting such as homes and offices, streetlights and auto headlamps as well as camera flashes and projection displays.

"For the first time, these chips should enable solid-state lamp makers to challenge the efficacy of not only incandescent, but also fluorescent lamps," said Chuck Swoboda, Cree's chairman and chief executive officer.

Cree plans to introduce several other advancements in order to spread the use of LEDs in more lighting applications, Swoboda added.
