ENFIELD, N.C. — Two men have been charged with felonies after authorities said they used a company card fraudulently to pump gas.

According to the Halifax County Sheriff's Office, 47-year-old Alan Keeter, a former employee of Eastern Petroleum, was given a "test card" in 2003 to verify accurate pump service. When he stopped working for the company in 2004, authorities said he kept the card.

Investigators said Alan Keeter and 32-year-old David Keeter used the card to take hundreds of gallons of fuel valued at more than $28,000.

Authorities said an internal audit uncovered the transactions. Authorities said they caught the Keeters in the act of stealing gas on Aug. 2 in Enfield.

David Keeter and Alan Keeter are charged with four counts each of obtaining property by false pretense. Alan Keeter is additionally charged with two counts of larceny by employee.
