According to Campbell Soup officials, the fire started at around 10 a.m. and was brought under control less than a hour later. Officials said the fire started in the insulation that surrounds one of the hydrostatic cookers that makes the soup.
A half-dozen fire stations responded to the fire, which started in a cooker at the plant, officials said.
The plant was not evacuated and no one was injured. By noon, firefighters were removing hoses from the area and leaving the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

, which is just east of Laurinburg.
The plant was built in 1983 at a cost of around $100 million and occupies nearly 1 million square feet, according to Food Engineering Magazine.
