Heavy Rains Force Brief Road Closures In Orange County

Posted Updated

ORANGE COUNTY, N.C. — Heavy rains caused brief flooding in parts of Orange County Tuesday afternoon, forcing some residents of a mobile home park to briefly evacuate and some roads to temporarily close.

Orange County officials said late Tuesday afternoon, however, that all roads in Chapel Hill and Carrboro reopened after briefly flooding.

Residents of the Rocky Brook Mobile Home Park off of Old Pittsboro Road in Carrboro were evacuated as a precaution. The community's parking lot flooded.

Emergency management officials said no rescue operations or major evacuations were needed.

Roadways temporarily closed in the county included West Franklin and West Rosemary streets in Chapel Hill and South Greensboro Street and Old Pittsboro Road in Carrboro.
