Posted Updated

CARY, N.C. — The power is back on for Progress Energy customers in Cary.

More than 700 customers lost power around 2 a.m. Tuesday.

Officials said a lightning arrestor, which acts like a surge protector failed, causing the power outage.

Crews restored power about two hours later.
