After investigating a crash that happened last week that killed Brinson's son, Johnston County prosecutors found no evidence that Brinson or his doctors saw it coming.
Thursday, the Highway Patrol released the dashboard video from that day in which Brinson was driving and wrecked.
It clearly shows a driver with no control of his automobile. Unfortunately, it also shows the last few moments of a young boy's life.
Brinson's trip home from a doctor's appointment last week was a reckless, swerving, high-speed affair that he likely never realized was happening.
The diabetic father was experiencing extremely low blood sugar, and his body was reacting.
Unable to get his attention, the trooper following him could only watch -- as Brinson's vehicle slammed into a guardrail on Interstate 40 near Benson at a high rate of speed and then plunged down a ravine.
John Brinson, 11, was ejected and died. Making matters worse, another layer of pain was added to the family's tragedy when the possibility of criminal charges was brought up.
The family told WRAL it is relieved that no charges will be filed. Now, it can get on with the grieving process.
