Helen Jones, 69, was found around 9:30 a.m. Monday by a Fayetteville police officer at the bottom of a 10-foot ravine, around 50 feet off of Ramsey Street.
Jones was pinned inside the car, and was rescued by firefighters. According to hospital officials, Jones was in fair condition Monday at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
According to police, Jones' husband, Charlie, contacted authorities Monday morning, saying he had not talked to her since the previous night.
Officers said they learned that the woman was driving a car that was equipped with OnStar, a system that includes a built-in cellular phone and a GPS. OnStar personnel tracked the car to the Ramsey Stree area, where officers searched for and then spotted the car.
Authorities said Jones' car was traveling southbound on Ramsey when it left the road, drove across a store parking lot and then fell into the ravine.
