Some Flooding Reported After Heavy Rains

RALEIGH, N.C. — Some minor flooding was reported in areas north of the Triangle on Thursday.

Heavy rains moved through the region starting early Thursday morning.

At

Lake Gaston

, a WRAL viewer reported that the lake was several feet above its normal level and that was causing some minor flooding. Jet Skis, coolers, chairs and other loose objects were seen floating near the banks of the lake Thursday morning.

There was no report of flooding in Raleigh or the Triangle.

The system that brought the rains dumped the most heavy showers north of Raleigh, with some areas getting heavy rain and thunderstorms overnight. Later Thursday, some of the thunderstorms that develop over the southern part of the viewing area could become strong or severe.

    After the system moves through Thursday, rain is not expected to return to the forecast for several days and temperatures are expected to be around the low 80s.
