SMITHFIELD, N.C. — Police are investigating a shooting that happened early Sunday outside a Smithfield night club.
At about 2:26 a.m. Sunday, authorities responded to a call at the Mambo Club, located at
503 Brogden Road
, where they found Carlos Alexander Contreras, 21, shot multiple times.
Events and details surrounding the shooting were still under investigation on Sunday afternoon, police said, and no charges have been filed.
Contreras was treated at Johnston Memorial Hospital and was then transported to UNC Hospitals for surgery. He was listed in critical condition as of Sunday morning, police said.
