DURHAM, N.C. — The final defendant in the slaying of an 89-year-old Durham woman was sentenced Thursday.

A judge sentenced Little Jerome Freeman at least 10 years in prison. Freeman is one of five men convicted of killing Lois Cannady four years ago.

Cannady's family thanked him for testifying against the others. He then apologized for his role in the murder.

The four other defendants in the case have already been sentenced.
