Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Eastbound Interstate 40 just east of N.C. 751 in Durham County has been reduced to one lane while crews repair 600 feet of concrete barrier that was pushed into the median Friday afternoon by a tractor-trailer.

The westbound lanes were not affected.

The inside eastbound lane of I-40 will remain closed until approximately 11 p.m. Friday to allow construction crews to place the median barrier back onto the pavement.

According to the Department of Transportation, motorists can expect significant delays and are urged to travel with caution through the area.
