Hoke County School Bus Involved In Traffic Accident

Posted Updated

RAEFORD, N.C. — A Hoke County school bus was involved in a two-vehicle accident at 7:40 a.m. Thursday.

According to assistant superintendent George McFarley, the bus had just dropped off students at West Hoke Middle School and had started its run for the South Hoke Elementary school.

McFarley said a Chevy Blazer ran a stop sign at the intersection of Cole Road and West Palmer Road and was hit by the bus. The impact flipped the bus over.

The bus driver, whose name has not yet been released, was taken to Moore Regional Hospital as a precaution. There was no word on her condition, but witnesses said there were no outward signs of serious injury.

McFarley said two kids on the bus were shaken up, but not injured.

The driver of the Blazer was cited by the Highway Patrol.
