Durham Authorities Seek Help Catching Suspect In Home Invasion

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham CrimeStoppers and the Durham Police Department are asking for citizens' help in locating a suspect in a home invasion.

Anyone with information regarding Daniel Lee Bailey is asked to call 911 immediately, then call Durham CrimeStoppers at

Police believe that Bailey and an accomplice, Robert Eugene Matthews, committed two home invasions in the Wabash Street and Ridgeway Avenue areas between April 18 and April 20. During the commission of these crimes, according to police, Bailey pointed a handgun at the head of an infant child.

Matthews was arrested and charged, but Bailey is still at large. He is wanted for felonious breaking and entering, two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon, first-degree burglary, three counts of second-degree kidnapping and assault of a child under 12.

Bailey is described as an 18-year-old African-American man about 5 feet 11 inches tall. His hair is usually in cornrows or an Afro. There also are outstanding warrants for his arrest in Roxboro. His residence is listed as 217 Taylor St.
