Suspects In Fayetteville Home Invasion Still At Large

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville police say several gunmen remained at large Monday after shooting a man during a home invasion Sunday night.

The home invasion occurred around 7:42 p.m. at 5020 Watauga Rd., Apt C. When officers responded, they found Juan Cerdia lying on the floor with multiple gun shot wounds.

Cerdia was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. He is listed in fair condition.

According to police, Cerdia went to open his door when he heard someone knocking. After someone fired a shot through the door, the suspects forced their way in and fired more shots.

Cerdia reportedly was shot twice in his side but was able to call 911 for help.

Police say Cerdia and one of the suspects struggled, and the gun came apart.

Police do not believe robbery was a motive because they found a wallet with money in it on Cerdia's dresser.
