CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.C. — A Cumberland County man is in critical condition and three of his relatives are in jail.

Authorities say a Cumberland County deputy shot Charles Alford while trying to serve a federal warrant Thursday night.

The home on Ministry Road has been the subject of an 8-month drug investigation involving the Sheriffs Office, SBI and DEA.

The deputy is on leave while the SBI investigates.

Alford was in fair condition Sunday night. His sister and her two grown children, who were also at the home, face various cocaine charges.
