DURHAM, N.C. — Budget cuts have brought an end to the antidrug message delivered in the Durham County school system.
Instead of Drug Abuse Resistance Education classes, children will take Gang Resistance Education and Training classes.
The county's chief deputy said Durham's growing gang problem made the classes a better fit for schools.
Federal money from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms will pay for the program.
