LEE COUNTY, N.C. — A Lee County family will spend their New Year's Eve with their home in ashes.
Around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, authorities say Eric Yarborough was in his yard, burning brush and tree limbs when his field caught on fire. Authorities say the fire spread to two storage buildings and his house.
Authorities say Yarborough's wife, Rachel, suffered burns to her legs and face. The couple's two children escaped injury.
Officials say the family is now staying with relatives.
