Public Comment On Power Response Welcome At Durham Forum

DURHAM, N.C. — Triangle residents have a chance to speak out over the utility companies response to power outages after the ice storm.

The

State Utilities Commission

will hold the first of six public forums at 6 p.m. The meeting will be held in the council chambers at Durham City Hall. The meeting will be held to hear from affected utility customers in the Durham-Chapel Hill area.

Additional public meetings will be held in in January in Raleigh, Salisbury, Greensboro, Charlotte, and Henderson:

  • Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003, at 6:00 p.m., Utilities Commission Hearing Room 2115, Dobbs Building, 430 North Salisbury Street, Raleigh
  • Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003: 6:00 p.m., Civic Center, 315 South Boundary Street, Salisbury
  • Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003: 6:00 p.m., Greensboro College, Cowen Building, Cowen Lecture Hall, Second Floor, 815 West Market Street, Greensboro
  • Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003: 6:00 p.m., Mecklenburg Criminal Court Building, Room 1101, 700 East Fourth Street, Charlotte
  • Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003: 6:00 p.m., Vance County Courthouse, District Courtroom No. 1, Main Floor, 156 Church Street, Henderson
  • At the height of the power outages, 1.5 million North Carolinians were without power.
