Police Look For Suspect In North Raleigh Shooting

RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police are looking for a man they believe is responsible for a shooting that injured two people in a North Raleigh neighborhood early Monday morning.

Police are searching for Vito Martinez Vargas in connection with the shooting at 4747 Courtney Lane. That is in the Courtney Place apartment complex near Capital Boulevard.

Witnesses said more than a dozen shots were fired around 2 a.m.

Maria Emengote, 35, and Gertiudis Rodriquez, 41, suffered gunshot wounds. Both women were treated and released from WakeMed.

Residents said there have been problems in the neighborhood in the past.
