The Johnston County Planning Board has given the Son-Lan Development Company six months to repair drainage problems.
The board ruled this week that if repairs are not completed by June 15, Son-Lan will have to cease building in the community.
Homeowners said they are satisfied with the board's decision. The estimated cost of the project is $140,000.
Waverly Point has 164 homes on 246 acres that drain to a single point before emptying into a creek. Residents say they have been plagued by flooding since its construction.
Approval of Phases 4 and 5 of Waverly Point depends on Son-Lan obtaining a performance bond by Dec. 1. The performance bond would guarantee that the necessary work will be completed by June 15.
