Posted Updated

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.C. — Investigators in Cumberland County are searching for a man they warn is armed and dangerous.

Officials have been looking for Latwang Janell Reid for months. They said the Hope Mills 25-year-old failed to show up for court on one violent offense, and in the meantine, they said hecommitted another.

"He has no regard for human life," said Lt. Sam Pennica of the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office.

On New Year's Day, investigators said he shot three people at a Waffle House restaurant. Four people, including two customers, were injured.

Reid, who is also known as "Twan" or "Twizzy," pleaded guilty to that shooting, but failed to show up for his sentencing in September. He faced a prison sentence of up to 17 years.

On Oct. 13, detectives said Reid and two other men stormed into a Cumberland County home. They said the motive was robbery; however, the victim was shot and critically wounded.

"The victim in this case fled, he was shot in the back. He was critically injured and will probably be paralyzed from the waist down for the rest of his life," Pennica said.

Pennica said knowing deputies are hot on his trail, Reid may strike again out of desperation. That is why they are hoping someone will turn him in soon.

"This is a very dangerous individual. We're trying to make every effort we can to get him of the streets before he hurts someone else," he said.

Cumberland County investigators think Reid's family and friends are helping him hide from the law.

Reid is described as 5'9", 170 lbs., with brown hair, brown eyes, and possibly wearing his hair in dreadlocks.

He also has tattoos on his upper right arm; "TAZ" and adevil. On his upper left arm there is a tattoo of the grim reaper and a snake.

Anyone with information is asked to call Fayetteville-Cumberland CrimeStoppers at (910) 483-TIPS or (910) 483-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to Reid's arrest.
