DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police have charged the driver of a pickup truck with felony hit-and-run in the death of a pedestrian in Durham Wednesday morning.
Jerron McMillion, 24, of Chestnut Street, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said McMillion was walking south in the northbound lane of Barbee Road, near Carpenter Fletcher Road, when he was hit by the northbound pickup truck around 5:30 a.m.
Durham police investigators charged Christopher Dow Young, 39, of Lemay Street late Wednesday with felony hit-and-run. His bond was set at $50,000.
Young fled the scene, but returned several hours later. Alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors in the accident, according to investigators.
