Overturned Tractor-Trailer Caused Major Backups On I-40

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Authorities responded to an overturned tractor-trailer Tuesday afternoon on Interstate 40 near the Rock Quarry Road exit.

Authorities said a small car cut off the tractor-trailer, causing it to jackknife. They said a pick-up truck later hit the tractor-trailer.

Officials said the tractor-trailer, owned by Paper Stock Dealer Inc., was transporting paper. Three wreckers and an airbag recovery unit were used to help upright the vehicle.

Crews were able to remove the vehicle from the highway two and a half hours later.

Authorities say the driver of the tractor-trailer was taken away to the hospital for treatment.
